Duplex Water Softener System

The Single Water Softener System is designed to remove hardness-causing minerals from water, such as calcium and magnesium. It operates through three key components:

  1. The pressure Tank:
    • This tank contains ion exchange resin beads that are responsible for softening the hard water. As water enters the tank, it flows through the resin beads. The calcium and magnesium ions, which cause hardness, are exchanged with sodium ions on the resin beads, leaving the water soft and ready for use.
  2. Control Valve:
    • The control valve regulates the water flow through the system and monitors the amount of water treated. As the resin beads absorb more hardness ions, their capacity diminishes. The control valve automatically initiates a regeneration cycle before the resin is fully saturated. This process restores the resin’s ability to soften water by flushing it with a brine solution.
  3. Brine Tank:
    • The brine tank holds a concentrated salt solution used during the regeneration process. When the resin beads in the mineral tank need to be recharged, the brine solution is drawn from the brine tank and passed through the mineral tank. This process replaces the hardness ions on the resin beads with sodium ions, preparing the system to continue softening water effectively.

The Duplex Water Softener operates includes two resin columns—one active and one on standby. Water flow is metered, and when the first column is exhausted, the control valve automatically switches service flow to the second column and regenerates the first column. This ensures a continuous 24-hour supply of softened water, making duplex softeners ideal for sites with large fluctuations in water demand or where an uninterrupted soft water supply is essential.

Key Features:

  • Continuous Operation: With two resin columns, one is always on standby, ready to take over when the other is regenerating.
  • Automatic Regeneration: The system automatically regenerates the resin when it reaches its capacity, ensuring consistent water softening.
  • Customizable Valves: Duplex softeners can be equipped with various valve options based on size and manufacturer preference.

Technical Specifications:

  • Flow Rates: Standard control valves range from ¾” to 3″ in connection size, with flow rates up to 50m³ per hour.
  • Pressure Requirements: Minimum pressure of 2 bar, maximum of 10 bar.
  • Electrical Supply: Requires a 220V supply with transformers provided (12V for Clack, 24V for Fleck).
